"Azienda Agricola" La Martina is situated in a beautiful tranquil part of Canelli between Monferrato and the Langhe region. It is a family run farm and Massimo, the owner, tends to eleven hectares of vineyards in the surrounding hills that envelop the farm. The main wine production is Moscato D'Asti Docg (sweet sparkling wine), Barbera D'Asti Docg (deep red), Cortese Alto Monferrato Doc (light white)and Dolcetto Doc (light red), he is as passionate about his wine making as an artist is about creating a work of art. So why not come and test him out?

Massimo together with his wife Cristina and their two children Martina and Mattia have lived in the area all of their lives, and with the help of his father-in-law Franco, a great wine maker with a degree in oenology and his mother- in- law Mariuccia, they decided to open their farm up to visitors who have the same passion for good wine and food as the family do.

Cristina who graduated in foreign languages and is the owner of a language school offers visitors Italian lessons to any level. So if you are interested in learning how to order a glass of Barolo and a pizza in a local restaurant or you want to be fluent in this beautiful language Cristina can help.

"Azienda Agricola" La Martina can offer a range of activities for visitors – for those with a love of Italian food, there are cooking lessons available. Those who want to learn more about Italian traditions there are wine lessons from the growing to the wine production, and of course most importantly wine tasting.

New for 2011, the farm is introducing a new initiative for wine lovers 'Rent a Vine'. This unique opportunity allows the owner of the vine to be involved from the growing, the harvesting and the producing of the wine, to the tasting. Each year the owner will receive the bottles of wine produced from their vine with their own personal label.

A museum of the old machineries for growing the vineyard and for producing barrels and wine is part of the farm. You can visit it and feeling part of the 19th century life of a family who lived and worked in this farm at that time.

The farm also has an 18th Century villa, which has been fully restored and can be rented for your stay. It sleeps 6 people comfortably and has all of the amenities with a large garden to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the surrounding hills in Santo Stefano Belbo, which have been granted UNESCO protection status.
